In my life I have done many things: martial arts, medicine, academia, monkhood. Art has always been there; both changing and unchanging.
My work is I think, natural, child-like mostly spontaneous; sometimes painful sometimes playful. I use a lot of Japanese inks – not very familiar but it suits me in their colour and varied hardness. I also use oil – I love the smell. I use raw canvas because it gives a context, paper lightness and board presence. I very much enjoy seeing the way pots come back from the burning – surprising – much like Fresco.
People sometimes see animals and faces and buildings and other people and stories in my work – I don’t put them there consciously most of the time but sometime I can see them too. Sometimes I title the work when I see something like that.
